Edison and Ford Winter Estates

The winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford are two of the major historic attractions in Fort Myers. Located on adjacent property on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, the estates play host to thousands of visitors every year. Edison's home was completed in 1886 and named "Seminole Lodge." He retreated there during the winters until his death in 1931.

Edison's friend, Henry Ford, eventually purchased the adjacent property in 1915, around the same time he opened his first Ford Car Dealership in Fort Myers. His property was dubbed "The Mangoes."

The estates are open daily 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) and extensive tours are available. Visit http://www.efwefla.org for more information.
